Happy New Year, everybody. While Yeti didn’t get into a year-end retrospective, I did want to start the year off with a list of places that, for one reason or another, I’d love to visit and/or live.
Slovenia. A gem of eastern Europe, with caves, lakes, mountains, and a capital city built by the Romans. This sounds like a perfect place, although now that they are on the Euro it won’t be as cheap to visit.
Paraguay. Looks to be sort of the Cambodia of South America. Recent events were tragic and stopped many visitors from coming, but a tourist industry is rising and there are growing cities, friendly people, and ancient ruins to be seen. Wild nature, amazing Trinidad (world’s least-visited UNESCO site), splendid Río Paraguay, surrealistic Filadelfia (a historic colonial town) are among the country’s highlights. Plus it was fun to watch them in the world cup.
Venuzeula: Mountains in the north, the world’s biggest waterfall, anacondas, jaguars and more. For those who care about such things, the women are supposedly the most beautiful in the world. This would be an amazing, adventurous country to visit.
Shimla: An Indian city in the northwest Himalayas, it’s 7000 ft high and, according to wikipedia, draped in forests of pine, rhododendron, and oak. It looks quite lovely, and would be a great place to do a lot of Himalayan trekking.

I want to go to all of these places. Especially for the beautiful women. Slovenia is definitely high up on my list. Never considered Paraguay, but sounds awesome.
If you were told you could go to one of these four places for a month, all expenses paid, which would you choose?
I’m not sure. Right now, maybe Venezuala but I might be overly-influenced by the great Ian Wright globetrekking episode.
Wow, this is a great list! Well, you are soon to be in Colombia and I think the nature is comparable to Venezuela and you can encounter plenty of Venezolanas here. They are indeed beautiful. 😉 Maybe we should try to go Paraguay since it is so high on your list. Then join Ness in Slovenia. 3 out of 4 places -check! You can figure out to Shimla afterwards!
To be fair, my tastes have changed a bit in the last 8 years. All those places still do sound pretty cool though.
