City of the Month: Railay

It’s not really an island, but because it’s got nice beaches and reachable only by boat it may as well be.  Railay is great for troops of monkeys, all-night beach parties, the best food cart in Thailand, and especially rock-climbing.

There are a couple of beaches here, but if you read this blog chances are you’ll want to find your way to Tonsai beach.  It’s got great food and lots of cool hang-out places.  You could chill out here for a month or two quite easily.

TRAVEL TIP: When you land on East Railay, instead of heading inland you simply walk down the beach, climb some vines and then traverse over the rocks.  It’s the quickest (and most fun) way to get to Tonsai.
